We read peptide research one study at a time, keeping what happened beside what remains unshown.

# The papers stay within reach of the story.

These are the sources we link to in Peptide Studies. Each note says what we used it for. A trial, a review and prescribing information do different jobs, even when they discuss the same compound.

## The human weight trial and the rat tendon experiment

The opening page moves from people to rats. These sources help keep that change clear, with separate safety and human-evidence context.

-

### [The semaglutide weight trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33567185/)

Wilding and colleagues, 2021. Adults without diabetes received semaglutide or placebo. This is where the opening weight comparison comes from.

-

### [The semaglutide safety review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34305810/)

Smits and Van Raalte, 2021. We use this review for digestive effects and gallbladder risk. It adds safety context to the account.

-

### [BPC-157 and a cut rat Achilles tendon](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14554208/)

Staresinic and colleagues, 2003. This is the tendon-healing experiment. It also reports the separate work on tendon cells outside the rats.

-

### [The later review of BPC-157 repair research](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40789979/)

McGuire and colleagues, 2025. We use this review to explain the very limited human evidence. It identifies the need for larger, rigorous trials.

## The tirzepatide and retatrutide leaves

The weight trials provide comparisons within each study. The other sources explain targets, safety and approval; they aren't extra weight-loss trials.

-

### [The tirzepatide obesity trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35658024/)

Jastreboff and colleagues, 2022. The source for weight changes over 72 weeks. It also reports the digestive side effects.

-

### [Tirzepatide prescribing information](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=487cd7e7-434c-4925-99fa-aa80b1cc776b)

The source for warnings about severe digestive problems and kidney injury linked to fluid loss. It also covers slow stomach emptying.

-

### [The early retatrutide obesity trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37366315/)

Jastreboff and colleagues, 2023. This 48-week trial supplies the weight finding. It also reports digestive effects and increased heart rate.

-

### [Retatrutide's three receptor targets](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11255275/)

Research on how retatrutide interacts with three hormone receptors. We use it to explain the targets, rather than predict a personal benefit.

-

### [A review of retatrutide's early research](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12190491/)

Katsi and colleagues, 2025. This brings early findings together. We use it for context on the weight results and side effects.

-

### [FDA information on unapproved GLP-1 drugs](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-alerts-and-statements/fdas-concerns-unapproved-glp-1-drugs-used-weight-loss)

The source for retatrutide's lack of FDA approval. An encouraging research result doesn't change that distinction.

## The tesamorelin and PT-141 leaves

These papers measure different things: fat around the organs, desire and distress. The prescribing information keeps approved uses and safety warnings close by.

-

### [The tesamorelin trial in adults with HIV](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18057338/)

Falutz and colleagues, 2007. The source for the visceral-fat result over 26 weeks. We use the paper's percentages in our account.

-

### [Tesamorelin prescribing information](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=839334d3-8c1d-4c26-9036-2ab524a6ea75)

The source for the approved use and weight-neutral description. It also supplies the blood-sugar, growth-signal and active-cancer cautions.

-

### [The longer tesamorelin follow-up](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18690162/)

Falutz and colleagues, 2008. This supports the note about visceral fat returning after treatment stopped. It is separate from the first trial report.

-

### [The two bremelanotide desire trials](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31599840/)

Kingsberg and colleagues, 2019. The source for changes in desire and related distress over 24 weeks. It also reports common side effects.

-

### [Bremelanotide prescribing information](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfm?setid=8c9607a2-5b57-4a59-b159-cf196deebdd9)

The source for the approved population and temporary blood-pressure rise. It also explains the limits for people with certain cardiovascular conditions.

A link supports the statement beside it. It doesn't settle every question about that compound. If a claim seems bigger than the account, returning to the original paper is a good way to see where the difference begins.
